Week 9

It was very fun working with my group on the RIP project, and I am going to miss filming scenes with them and thinking of things to add to the video. Showing our video was bittersweet because we were happy to share what we had created but at the same time we were sad that the RIP project was over. To watch the audience as they watched our film was a unique experience that I have never had before. It was very exciting to see the reactions that we had intended to get on their faces during certain points in the video, I felt like the audience appreciated the work we did and that was really important to me.

I had a great time watching everyone's presentation, I feel that both classes did well and made interesting presentations. Most of the other class did a good job, some of their more entertaining presentations, were the videos they made; most of the videos did get me to laugh. I also found the power point presentations to be effective; however I found that some of the groups in the other class didn't seem to take the project seriously. I don't know if that is just how they appeared to me, or if it was the type of project they chose to present, but they didn't seem to enjoy presenting their work.

For example, the poster presentation would have been more interesting if the presenters were more excited about what they worked on. I did learn some interesting facts about Mulan from that group, but they were unenthused by their own posters so in turn their audience sensed that lack of confidence and didn't take their presentation seriously. Also for the poster presentations the professor didn't give the girls enough time to go through their posters.
In my opinion, our class did an excellent job on our presentations. All of the videos that were shown were entertaining, and had clear meaning behind the simple horror scenes. One of the things that could have been improved with our class's presentations was our introductions. I felt like maybe all of us should have prepared a few sentences to say before our video other than just saying our names and a few words, then playing the videos.
My group's presentation went well, I was proud of our video. I think it could have gone even better if we would have added more music in some parts like when Maria was in bed and I appeared in the mirror. Also there were some parts of scenes, like when Maria fell down on the inside of the building, that I think we should have left in the video, it would have made our trope clearer. But other than that, I think our video was exactly what we wanted it to be if not more. Some of our strong scenes were the hallway dream and the bathtub scene They worked because they had the right emotional appeal to the audience, any time body horror is shown the audience squirms. Also any time there is have an intense running sequence the audience feels for the main character. I think when Maria, Viviana and I melted all of our ideas together everything fell into place.
