RIP PROJECT
The RIP Project was a way for us to use rhetoric and genre expectations to come up with a medium, and then write about the medium we created. My group decided to create a short horror video.

Guilt Trip
This is the final product of our RIP Project. It is a short film that is laced with horror and drama. We presented this film to our own Writing 39B class and another Writing class at UCI. Maria Godoy plays the main character, Viviana Romero plays the caring friend, and I play the dead friend and the monster (before the end reveal.) We really had a great time making this project come to life.
RIP Video Process

This is where we decided what tasks for the project everyone in the group would take on. Also I jotted down some things Professor McClure advised, and a couple proposals for the video as well.

These caveman drawings and notes were a quick mix match of ideas that would soon be refined to our lovely video. Many of these thoughts did not make it to the final piece.

I wanted our monster to be ugly, disgusting, possibly repulsive. I used this monster woman that was from the show The X-Files ("Chimera" Season 7 Episode 16) as a reference. I loved her appearance and thought it was the perfect amount of ugliness for our monster.

This was my initial idea of the monster. I drew this quick little doodle to show Viviana what I was thinking about for the appearance and overall feel.

My group and I were thinking through the scenes we wanted to include in our short film. This is really messy because as ideas were flying around I wanted to get them all down on paper before we forgot what they were. This was our first crude story board.

After we discussed having a mask instead of using makeup to portray our monster, I drew a more serious idea for how we could dress up our mask. Viviana ran with the idea and made it her own when she was making the mask.

Here is a picture of the first night we spent planning the entire video. This was taken in Phoenix Food Court; we spent around two hours picking which ideas we wanted to keep, and which ideas we would abandon. Of course, it was fun so we didn't mind.

As we were talking about our scenes that we wanted to include in our film, we needed a solid order established so we could make clothing choices consistent and make the short film have logical chronological sense. This was also meant to help with editing once we had finished filming.

This is a cleaner, neater, more detailed look at our film plan. Maria took down these notes after everything was official and we were all on the same page.

For our monster to work we needed a full costume, wig, mask and all. We narrowed down the wigs from the ones shown to just the blonde curly one.

This is the end result of the mask with the wig that we decided on.

A threatening monster that no one wants to run into late at night. Even I got scared every time I looked in the mirror.
